 Harvard Medical School scientists have suggested 5 habits to prevent diseases in old age and to live longer.  If these habits are taken care of, then many serious diseases can be prevented from happening at the age of 50.  These include diseases like type-2 diabetes, heart disease and cancer.  This research by Harvard Medical School and Harvard TH Chen School of Public School of Health is alarming.


Study like this...Harvard researchers used health data from 73,196 women and 38,366 men in their research. Research has revealed that men who followed 4 to 5 habits remained free from diabetes for 31 years even at the age of 50. At the same time, such women stayed away from diabetes for 34 years.

Know those five things that should always be kept in mind…

1- Healthy diet: Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in the diet.

Scientists believe, to a large extent, the role of human diet in preventing the effects of aging. According to the US health agency CDC, one out of every 4 deaths is from heart disease. Apart from this, obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and nutritional deficiencies are major risk factors for diseases. To avoid these dangers, there is a need to increase the amount of vegetables and fruits in the diet.

2- Workout: 30 minutes of exercise daily is necessary.

Exercise should be done daily. It reduces weight and also reduces the risk of many diseases. It helps in keeping the body healthy and also reduces the effect of aging.

3- BMI: Keep body weight under control.

The National Institutes of Health also says that the ideal condition is for a person to have a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 24.9. Those with a BMI less than 18.5 fall under the category of underweight and those with a BMI more than 25 are called obese.

 The body mass index is a measure of the height and weight of a person to find out whether the weight is more or less according to the body. Scientists say that obesity causes many diseases. Such people have an increased risk of developing type-2 diabetes, cancer, respiratory problems and gallstones.

4- Alcohol is bad: keep distance from alcohol.

The habit of drinking alcohol damages the body in many ways. It adversely affects the brain, heart, liver and pancreas. Drinking alcohol can lead to many serious diseases like ulcers, cancer, heart disease. So distance is better than this.

5- No-Smoking: Quit smoking.

According to the CDC, smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung disease, diabetes and COPD. Apart from this, along with increasing the risk of tuberculosis and eye disease, it also weakens the immune system that protects the body from diseases.
